It is possible to run into obstacles when you are new to working out, especially if it requires you to be proactive such as exercise.

You must be ready to face any obstacles that may arise and to persevere through them. This is key to long-term success in staying healthy and fit. All of us experience setbacks. How you handle them is the real question.

1) If you haven’t exercised in years, you will likely feel tired quickly the first few days or weeks. People can feel lightheaded in warm-ups if they haven’t exercised in a while. It’s okay. Don’t let being out of shape be an excuse not to get in shape. Take it step by step.

2) You will need to learn new skills! It’s like your first day at school. You might ask to use words or terms you don’t know, or perform physical tasks you have never done before. Accept the opportunity to expand your knowledge. Everybody has been the “new kid” at one point.

3) You will be thrown off your new routine by life. Getting sick. Traveling out of town for work. Twisting your ankle chasing after your dog. You will be tempted to quit this exercise routine, but it is best to get back on track as soon as you can. Do not let a week turn into a month. Although nobody likes to “restart”, we all have to face these challenges at one point or another. This is what you’ve got.

4) You will become more familiar with your active body. There may be some discomfort as you work to make your body more efficient. You may be asking your body for things it has never done before. There will be some soreness. There is a possibility that you might “tweak” something, although we will try to minimize these chances. This is your chance to learn more about your body, what it needs to thrive, how it can be maintained, and how you can maximize its potential.

You will see a significant improvement in your fitness and health if you continue to exercise for at least a few weeks. It improves your mental health. It can also help you with your physical health. Because you feel this good, you will want to do it again and again. This feeling can be felt immediately by some people. It is important to keep trying, even if you don’t feel motivated.
